1. Make sure your skin is smooth by exfoliating
Exfoliating your skin is going to be important when you are tanning at home. You want the self-tanner to go on smoothly instead of showing up in clumps. When you exfoliate your skin, you will be able to have a smooth application of your self-tanner. MineTan has delicious coffee scrubs to make sure you’re super exfoliated and super ready to get the perfect tan!
2. Moisturize your skin
In order to make sure your tan will last and fade evenly, you need to make sure you skin is moisturized and hydrated for the healthiest glow out there. Right before self tanning, it’s also important to use moisturizer as a barrier in areas that are prone to build up: your face, hands, feet and elbows.
3. Mitt up
One of the biggest mistakes that people make when they are self-tanning at home is forgetting to wear tanning mitts! You are obviously going to be in contact with the self-tanner much more frequently with your hands than any other part of your body and it is one of life’s biggest struggles removing tan build up from your hot little hands. MineTan have you covered once again in this department with their velvet mitts crafted for the perfect self tan application.
4. Remove build up
Even the most experienced individual is going to end up with some build up somewhere. This can be easily removed when you rinse in the shower for the first time by lighting rubbing it away!
5. Rinse it right!
don’t have a strict time limit for leaving your tan on. MineTan are perfect for choosing when you want to rinse off and letting the tan just keep on developing. Where most people go wrong with their self tans is when they rinse. To make sure your tan doesn’t go streaky, only shower for approximately 45 seconds in lukewarm water. Then don’t rub yourself vigorously with a towel to dry, it’s much better to pat dry to get that tan set!
5. Make sure you don’t forget your face
A big mistake that most beginners run into is forgetting to self-tan their faces. When your body has a great summer glow, but your face looks like you are right in the middle of the winter season, you are going to have a problem. When applying to face, make sure you don’t use too much by simply using the residue left on the mitt from tanning the rest of your body. Make sure you also blend the tan in with your neck, hairline and around the ears. Don’t worry – MineTan’s products are all made of skin-loving super safe ingredients, so perfectly safe to apply to your face!
