Using Self-Tanners Incorrectly
We all want to achieve youthful, glowing, and radiantly tan skin, right? We all love a good self-tan product, but we’re all aware of how bad a tan can be if mistakes are bad along the way! There are several easy mistakes to make while picking or applying your self-tanner, for example:
- Am I using the right color for me?
- What do I use to apply them?
- Is my skin exfoliated enough?
- Am I using the right moisturizer?
Make sure to choose a self-tanner that isn’t too dark. Additionally, try to pick a shade that compliments your skin tone. There are many types of self-tanners available. You can choose a mousse, lotion, gel, spray tan, and many others. It is essential to follow the directions when applying any of these choices (we share some great tips here!). Other important measures to take include moisturizing and exfoliating your skin. If you don’t exfoliate, the self-tanner won’t absorb evenly. Equally important, lack of moisture will make your tan look blotchy and uneven. Make sure to prep your skin with a good moisturizer. And most of all, don’t overdo it so you turn some crazy color!
Not Using Primers
Is your makeup losing its vibrancy as your day progresses? Does it crease, fade, or flake? Your mistake may be not using makeup primers. It may seem silly, but they make all the difference in the world. There are primers for several types of makeup applications.
- Eye Shadow
- Lip Color
- Foundation
- Mascara
Make sure to add these primers to your beauty routine. They help your makeup look smoother and last longer. Another benefit of using primers is obtaining a smoother application. Our skin is delicate, and we don’t want to pull or tug on it more than necessary.
Other Mistakes to Avoid
This list is just the tip of the iceberg. Other common beauty mistakes are easily avoided. Here are some extra helpful tips.
- Keep your brushes clean.
- Don’t over apply your foundation.
- Wash your face regularly.
Keeping your face and brushes clean prevents nasty bacteria from building up on your skin. It’s especially vital to wash your face after your workout, before bed, and in the morning. While applying foundation, take it slow and apply each layer thinly. Doing so will prevent caking and creasing.
Our beauty routines can mean everything to us. They make us feel pampered and pretty. But we’re all capable of silly mistakes that can have some nasty reprecussions and that’s okay, but let’s work on them together!
