Latest beauty craze: feather brows

It seems Instagram has the power to decide what’s cool and what’s not. A new beauty trend has recently come to people’s attention in Instagram posts: feather brows. Now, this is not to be confused with feathered brows, which are brows that have soft arches. No, feather brows are shaped just like feathers (yes, feathers!), offering a very, very unique look.

How it Got Started

Feather brows got started after when a Finnish makeup artists, Stella Sironen, posted a picture of herself on Instagram with her eyebrows shaped into feathers. Within minutes, people from all over the world had seen this picture and had noticed the way she had parted her brows down the middle to create that feather look. The interesting thing is that the artist intended the look to be a joke, but people really took to it, immediately asking her how she did it.

How DID She Do It?

The feather brow look is surprisingly easy to achieve. All you have to do, according to the artist, is part the brows down the middle and use a brow gel to keep the hairs in place. Most makeup companies have brow gels or wax pencils that can help you create the look in under a minute.

Making it Your Own

Since that first photo appeared in Instagram, people have been trying the look and coming up with new and fun ways of making it their own. Some people use glitter gel to separate the hairs and give them a sheen, while others choose to draw a line down the middle of the parted hair. Some people also take the time to separate the hairs on each sided of the part to give them an even more pronounced feather look. There are countless ways that you can transform this look into one you can wear to parties and other special occasions.

Although it is still not mainstream enough to, say, wear to the office, the feather brow is growing in popularity. For people who are searching for a new, fun look that will make them stand out, the feather brow is easy and endlessly customizable. All you need is a brow gel and a brush and you can get this intriguing look done in under a minute!
