6 beauty ingredients from Australia you need to know

While the growth in clean-beauty trend is felt worldwide, Aussie beauty lovers are proving to be ahead of the game with a huge array of native Australian ingredients making their way into beauty products. From reducing signs of aging to soothing inflammation, there’s so many skincare benefits from some key ingredients hailing from Australia, where brands MineTan and b.tan were born.

Kakadu Plum

Native to Northern Australia, Kakadu Plum is basically a skin superfood that has been popping up in more and more products over the last few years. So packed full of Vitamin C, it’s actually higher than oranges in the ingredient which is so important for your skin as Vitamin C stimulates production of collagen and reduces the appearance fine lines, wrinkles, scarring and hyper-pigmentation.
Kakadu Plum Seed Oil also contains natural anti-inflammatory properties and a heap of rich antioxidants to sooth irritated skin and fight off free radical damage from pollution or sun exposure.

Macadamia Nut Oil

Macadamia Nuts are grown on trees that have been native to rainforests in Northern Australia for over 60,000 years. The biggest benefit to the Macadamia Nut Oil is that it is the closest match to the naturally occurring sebum in our skin that we gradually lose over time as our skin ages. The essential fatty acids in the oil helps to smooth, plump, hydrate and rejuvenate skin.

Caviar Lime

Sourced from the pulp of finger limes grown in subtropical rainforests in Australia, Caviar Lime is known to be a natural exfoliator as the citric acid assists cell turnover and unclog pores for an even, brighter complexion. It’s also great for boosting and stimulating collagen production and improves the moisture content of your skin.

The Quandong is known as an Australia super fruit packed full of nutrients that had been used for food and medicine for more than 50,000 years by Indigenous Australians. It’s now having its time in the skincare spotlight as it’s full of antioxidants that fight free radicals, vitamin C, vitamin E and plenty of minerals that all work to rejuvenate, soothe and hydrate the skin for a bright, even complexion.

Lemon Myrtle

Lemon Myrtle Oil comes from the leaf of an Australian native rainforest species and has strong anti-bacterial and anti-fungal characteristics and if often used for cleansing the skin. Lemon Myrtle can help reduce pores, balance oily skin, fight free radicals, promote generation of new cell growth and healthy circulation. All this while it adds that lovely lemon smell!
