Tanning Bible Tips
Having a beautiful fake tan can look incredible and natural if it is done correctly. There is a great deal of prepping to be done on your skin beforehand, during, and after. Here are some excellent spray tan tips to get you that gorgeous glow you always wanted without spending hours in the sun.
Tan tip #1 – Exfoliate
Make sure your skin is properly exfoliated prior to your spray tanning session. Exfoliate from head to toe to make sure you remove any dry skin. Exfoliation is key to an even colour, smooth skin, and a flawless tan. Exfoliation will remove any dead skin and help your tan appear beautiful and natural looking.
Tan tip #2 – Shave or wax before the tanning session
Shave or wax your legs or any other body parts prior to getting a spray tan. It is encouraged to shave the day before getting your fake tan rather than on the same day. Shaving or waxing after your tan can result in patchy or discolouration areas on your skin and can make your tan look uneven.
Tan tip # 3 – Remove all makeup
It is best to remove all traces of makeup before you get your spray tan. Leaving any makeup on your face can lead to an uneven tan which will look unnatural. If you tan with a clean face, you won’t need to wear as much makeup once you get the spray tan. Your tan will cover up any imperfections and make your skin look radiant.
Tan tip # 4 – Moisturise your palms and use chapstick
Adding a small amount of moisturiser to both the palms of your hands and around your cuticles will act as a barrier to the tanning spray. This will give your hands a more natural look. Make sure you blend the moisturiser well around the edges to avoid colour build-up. Applying Chapstick before your tan will also keep your lips protected and natural looking.
Tan tip # 5 – Avoid getting wet
After your tan, avoid getting wet for at least 4-6 hours. Wear loose fitting clothing so nothing rubs against your tan once you are done. If it is raining, bring an umbrella, protective shoes, and a coat to cover every inch of your body that was just sprayed. Avoid giving the kids a bath, doing dishes, or any type of exercising after your spray tan. Wait to shower for 4-6 hours and then use a shower gel and apply to your hands only. Do not use a sponge or loofah in the shower since this can remove much of your tan.
Tan tip # 6 – Moisturise!!
Most important thing you can do after your tan is to keep your skin as moisturised as possible. Try and moisturise your skin 2-3 times a day. Skin that is hydrated will maintain a beautiful glowing tan that will last.
