Beauty Resolutions for 2014

Forget last year’s beauty mishaps and missed opportunities. Now that 2014 is here, it’s time to make a fresh start with a new list of resolutions for a healthier and more beautiful you. Try the easy-to-follow rules below to make improvements to your beauty routine without spending a fortune or changing your lifestyle.

1. Wear sunscreen every day.

You’ve heard it before. Exposing your skin to the sun’s toxic rays can lead to a number of problems that range from premature wrinkles to permanent discolouration and the deadly skin cancer melanoma. With the best tanning lotions available at your fingertips, you have no excuse not to shield your skin from UV radiation. Stay safe and keep your skin young with a high-SPF sunscreen, sun hats and sunglasses with UV protection.

2. Brush your body.

Dead skin cells that sit on top of your skin and poor circulation can make your otherwise perfectly healthy skin look dull and lifeless. To restore shine and reduce the appearance of cellulite, massage your body with a large body brush on a daily basis. Three minutes before your morning shower is enough to cause a noticeable difference in a few weeks, so you don’t need to worry about adding more steps to your busy schedule.

3. Get fresh, sun-kissed skin with a spray tan or a self tanning lotion.

Making the commitment to stay out of the sun doesn’t mean that you have to give up tanning. Today’s spray tans and tanning lotions are effective and easily accessible to all experience levels. For head-to-toe colour in a custom shade, go with spray tanning. If you want complete control over your results, try using a gradual self tanning lotion at home. Because each application adds just a little bit of colour, gradual tanning lotions are also great for maintaining your spray tan longer or creating a subtle tan for naturally pale skin tones.

4. Eat better food.

Eating nourishing, nutrient-rich foods isn’t just good for your health and waistline. Vitamins and antioxidants can reduce and reverse early signs of ageing, improve your skin’s texture and bring out your natural glow. For noticeable results, load up on fruits, leafy vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. Swap meat for seafood – the omega 3 fatty acids found in fish help create healthy, glowing skin.

5. Switch to organic beauty products.

Since they don’t contain chemicals and are usually made with sustainable technology, organic beauty formulas are good for both you and the environment. To get a two-in-one tan and skin treatment, try using an all-natural self tanning lotion with a vitamin-enriched blend of ingredients. Organic tanning lotions are usually light on pigment, but you can easily build up your colour to a darker tan with multiple applications.
